The Sbooktacular Reading Adventure

The Sbooktacular Reading Adventure is hosted by Novel Thoughts.

The Rules:
  • Begin at the bottom, with the sign that says ‘trick or treat.’
  • As you follow the path you will come across sign posts, these sign posts will give you your challenge instructions.
  • Sometimes the signposts will simply give you your prompt. Other times you will have to choose between two different prompts.
  • If you have to choose between two prompts, you will then follow the path in the direction of your chosen prompt.
  • At no point should you ever be moving DOWN the map. You should always be moving from the bottom to the top.
  • Continue up the map until you reach the end of the path.
  • To save space, the signposts only have part of the prompt written, they should be fairly easy to figure out, but there is also a table of all the prompts written in full (scroll down a bit to see it) just in case anything isn’t clear enough.
  • At the end of the path your character will be waiting for you! There are five characters in total.

Waiting on Wednesday #45: "Warcross" by Marie Lu

"Waiting on Wednesday" is a weekly event, hosted Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

Warcross (Warcross, #1)

Title: "Warcross"
Author: Marie Lu
Expected Publication: September 12, 2017

For the millions who log in every day, Warcross isn’t just a game—it’s a way of life. The obsession started ten years ago and its fan base now spans the globe, some eager to escape from reality and others hoping to make a profit. Struggling to make ends meet, teenage hacker Emika Chen works as a bounty hunter, tracking down players who bet on the game illegally. But the bounty hunting world is a competitive one, and survival has not been easy. Needing to make some quick cash, Emika takes a risk and hacks into the opening game of the international Warcross Championships—only to accidentally glitch herself into the action and become an overnight sensation.

Convinced she’s going to be arrested, Emika is shocked when instead she gets a call from the game’s creator, the elusive young billionaire Hideo Tanaka, with an irresistible offer. He needs a spy on the inside of this year’s tournament in order to uncover a security problem . . . and he wants Emika for the job. With no time to lose, Emika’s whisked off to Tokyo and thrust into a world of fame and fortune that she’s only dreamed of. But soon her investigation uncovers a sinister plot, with major consequences for the entire Warcross empire.

While I have yet to finish a series by Marie Lu (because I'm a trash human), I have absolutely loved all of her books. I'm fascinated by the idea of a virtual world and can't wait to see how everything plays out. Plus I've only heard great reviews!

Bookish Bingo: Summer 2017 Results and Fall 2017 Board

Bookish Bingo is a super cool feature created by Bekka at Pretty Deadly Reviews that I love to follow. It provides a bunch of great challenges, and you want to try to get as many bingos as possible!

Wow, had no clue "bookish" wouldn't show up with my background. Well... I have been meaning to make changes anyways.

Summer Board
I ended up only getting two bingos. I actually totally forgot about the board, but a bunch of books I read fortunately fit the challenges.

Fall Board
I haven't really decided what books I plan to read yet, but they will primarily be books for #TheReadingQuest and Sequel September.

Do you plan on joining?

Bout of Books 20: Wrap Up

 Bout of Books 20

The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda Shofner and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, August 21st and runs through Sunday, August 27th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 20 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. - From the Bout of Books team

So Bout of Books is over, and it went pretty well. I read quite a bit and finished a few books, but sadly life got in the way a few days so I wasn't able to read or accomplish as much as I had hoped.

Goals:
-Finish Serpentine by Cindy Pon (#TheReadingQuest)
-Finish Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo (#TheReadingQuest)
-Finish Uninvited by Sophie Jordan (Leftover from #Unhaulathon
-Read Want by Cindy Pon (#TheReadingQuest)
-Read The Young Elites by Marie Lu
-Complete 3 daily challenges
-Finish the Mage Quest for #TheReadingQuest
-Decide and start books for #RainbowReadathon17 and #WWReadathon

I accomplished 4 of my goals (finish Serpentine and Uninvited and read The Young Elites). I started Want, but I'm getting through it slowly. I'm having trouble getting into it, so I hope that changes soon! I also decided and started my books for #RainbowReadathon17 and #WWReadathon, so I started Slasher Girls and Monster Boys. I'm not someone who loves scary things, so some of these stories have really creeped me out!

I can only hope I can get this much done for the next Bout of Books!

How did Bout of Books go for you?
