Top Ten Tuesday #19


 
Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.
 
This week is our Top Ten beach reads! However, I'm not a beach person. Sand gets all over me, I can't swim, and I need to wear SPF 100 sunscreen. When you have glow in the dark, translucent skin like me, sun is the enemy. I've gotten burnt after being outside for 15 minutes. No joke. Because of this I tend to stay inside to prevent getting skin cancer. When I think of beach reads, I just think of books you happen to read at a beach, so my list will be books that I really want to read this summer!

These Broken Stars (Starbound, #1)
I've seen some mixed reviews for this book, but it sounds really interesting. Plus the cover is super pretty. I want that dress.
 
9.
Rise of the Arcane Fire (The Secret Order, #2)
I checked this book out a few months ago, but then I got super busy so I didn't have time to read it. I read the first book about two years ago, so I hope I remember enough!

The Girl of Fire and Thorns (Fire and Thorns, #1)
I bought this after hearing good things, so maybe I'll finally get around to it this summer!
 
7.
Scarlet (Scarlet, #1)
I liked Robin Hood as a kid, so I really want to read this retelling where Will Scarlet is actually a girl. Sign me up!
 
6.
Deliverance (Defiance, #3)
I read and loved the first two of this trilogy, so I really need to read this one. I've been having trouble getting it from my library, but maybe things will finally work out this summer!

Shadow and Bone (The Grisha, #1)
I've heard great things about this book, so I bought it a few months ago. Can't wait to read it!
 
4.
The Cage (The Cage, #1)
I can't wait to read this as I loved The Madman's Daughter trilogy! And it's exciting because it's released today!
 
3.
Stone Cold Touch (The Dark Elements, #2)
The third book is coming out in July, so I want to read this one before it comes out to make sure I remember everything!
 
2.
Origin (Lux, #4)
I bought this book when it first came out, but I haven't read it yet. I'm so excited to read the last two books, but I don't want this series to end!

A Court of Thorns and Roses (A Court of Thorns and Roses, #1)
People are RAVING about this book! I can't wait to finally get my hands on it! Hopefully it will help distract me from waiting impatiently for Queen of Shadows!

So these are just ten of the books that I would like to read this summer. It's not guaranteed that I'll read these ten, but I hope to use the list as a helpful tool to keep me on track and work on tackling that giant TBR pile!

    I have similar skin tone and issues with the sun. I actually look blue under certain lighting.

    Same here, I go the beach and it doesn't matter how much sunscreen I use, I always get burned somewhere.

    And I've read both These Broken Stars and The Girl of Fire and Thorns and I really enjoyed both of them. You should definitely try to read them this summer.

    The Cage downloaded on my kindle overnight (yay for release days!) and I'm trying to find an excuse to go ahead and start it! Can't wait to read it! I've had These Broken Stars for several months now, I need to read it soon too! Great list!

    Yeah I burn super easy too! Just yesterday I was sitting under a patio umbrella but I guess with the shifting sun, my arm got toasted! The other arm, only slightly pink. So now I'm uneven too! LOL!

    Great picks! LOVED Origin and ACOTAR! Cannot wait to read The Cage!

    I'm hoping to read A Court of Thorns and Roses this summer too! I cannot wait for Queen of Shadows for another Sarah J Maas fix, I need one soon!

    I definitely recommend Shadow and Bone. It was really unique and I have never read anything like it before. I still need to read A Court of Thorns and Roses and I hope it will be one of the first books that I read this summer!

    These Broken Stars was sooo good. i just finished it last week. And that cover!!! I am also a huge fan of the Stone Cold Touch series. Probably my favorite JLA. Great list!

    Ooh my gosh, I need to read These Broken Stars! And, I love that cover so much :) And ACoTaR! I really hope you love it! If you read Origin soon, make sure you have Opposition on hand... (horribly cruel cliff-hanger ending!) Great picks, and I hope you get to read them all!

    I've only read Shadow and Bone from your list, but there are a bunch of books here that I have been wanting (NEEDING) to read! Especially These Broken Stars, Scarlet, and A Court of Thorns & Roses! (I really hope to read ACOTAR this summer!)
