Described as "utterly captivating" by Richelle Mead and as "enchanting and exciting, romantic and believable" by Melissa Marr, the New York Times bestselling Unearthly series has dazzled readers and critics alike. In this riveting finale, Cynthia Hand explores the timeless question of whether it is better to follow the rules or your heart. This incandescent paranormal romance will win the hearts of fans of Becca Fitzpatrick, Andrea Cremer, and Cassandra Clare.

The past few years held more surprises than part-angel Clara Gardner ever could have anticipated. Now, with the fallen angel who attacked her watching her every move and the threat of Black Wings looming, Clara knows she must finally fulfill her destiny—a destiny that includes Christian Prescott by her side. But in order to complete her purpose, Clara must first find a way to give up the thing she wants most . . . a future with the boy she loves, Tucker Avery.
After the dramatic ending of Hallowed, Clara is trying to live the life of a normal teenager by going to Standford with Angela and Christian. However, it's hard to move on when your mother recently died, your brother has disappeared, you're still heartbroken over your breakup, and you're still trying to figure out your destiny.

While I found the previous two books to be emotional roller coasters (I had to hold back tears while reading Hallowed), the journey that Clara has to go through just tore at my heart. She was trying to make everyone happy and it took a toll on her. So much happened and was happening during such a short time. So much was being piled onto her at once.

Unsurprisingly, the romance is pretty big in this book. Clara is trying to deal with her breakup with Tucker and the fact that she stills loves him. She didn't want to end things with him, but she didn't want to drag him into something that would likely hurt him. And Clara continues to have visions of her and Christian together, so she's unsure how she feels about him. She cares about him, but she's not sure if she loves him, even though they are similar and can relate more than her and Tucker.

I didn't know what to expect while reading. I don't want to say too much, but each chapter had some sort of surprise that I wasn't anticipating. A lot of the surprises, for me, had to do with Angela and figuring out what Clara's destiny was. I've spent the last two books trying to find out what it was, so it was great to finally see what it was. And I won't lie, there were some tears involved.

Overall, this was a great conclusion to a great trilogy. I liked the first book, but I ended up loving the finale of the series. It was amazing to see these characters grow and figure out what they were meant to do. I can't wait to read more books by Cynthia Hand!
