Feature and Follow #17

Alison Can Read Feature & Follow

Feature and Follow is a weekly meme hosted by Alison Can Read and Parajunkee's View.

This weeks featured bloggers are Alexandra Florence Books and Banosaur!

I wasn't able to participate last week as I was super busy helping my sister prepare for her dance recital. She did amazing! I'm so proud of my little sister, even if she is a brat!

This Weeks Question:
How do you organize your books? Either at home on you bookshelf or on your reading device, or on your bookish platform like Goodreads, Leafmarks, or Booklikes?

I organize my bookshelf in my room by the author's last name. I've always preferred that organization and I feel like it's easier to find everything. Besides, that's how it's organized at libraries and bookstores! When there is a certain book or two that I want to read, I'll just move them to my nightstand so that I remember to read them. That reminds me, I should probably reorganize my bookshelf soon...
I don't really have a Kindle, just the app for my iPod. I organize it by author's last name as well. It helps to find the books that I'm renting from the elibrary that rent books from.
On platforms like Goodreads, Leafmarks, and Booklikes, I organize it by rating oftentimes. I also have shelves dedicated to different genres, how I felt about the characters, and when I read them. SO many different bookshelves, but it helps me see all the books I plan to read! I mostly use Goodreads, and I need to update my Leafmarks and Booklikes.

  1. I used to keep books on my nightstand and in my headboard but I started getting to many books to all fit there so I had to start filling bookshelves with them. Old Follower!

  2. I do the exact same thing. That's how i'm used to finding books at stores and bookshelves like you mentioned, so it just seemed like the right way to go at home too.

  3. Yay! I organize my shelves this way too! It is easier to find my authors that way. Though when I run out of room like I have since some odd years ago, lol, my books are spread throughout the house and a large shelf in my closet. There's also a small bookcase I shoved in there too. Better than the shoe rack I used to have! lol

Electronically, I surprisingly don't really organize myself. The kindle just has the books in order of buying them or whatever. Goodreads I have my books in the want to read, read, wishlist, and dnf--not many there thankfully! The to read books there I think are just arranged in order I put them in.

  4. Organizing books alphabetically by author name is definitely convenient, I do it too! After I arrange them by genre first ;) Old follower!

    1. I'm not patient enough to organize by genre, mostly because a book can fall under so many different genres!

  5. I now feel very disorganized..lol. I also feel like I should organize Goodreads as it seems everyone else has and I just mainly have them on the TBR list shelf...lol.

  6. I organize my bookshelves at home by author name too, I love having my home "library" area set up like a book store :)

  8. I organize by author as well. I have them separated by genre though, since I have so many books. It's too many to just do authors. I keep my series in series order too. I have the same setup on Goodreads, plus a shelf for books I want to buy. My Kindle is just a big old pile of books. :P

    1. Haha! If I keep buying more books, I'll probably have to sort by genre soon!

  9. Other than making sure to keep series together, I don't really have a specific way of organizing my books. I've been running out of space though. So I need to tidy things up a bit!

  10. You're so organized, Lizzie! I love it! (: My OCD when it comes to my physical bookshelves is sort of crazy. I need colors and book sizes to be uniform when books are being displayed on the same shelf. It takes forever for me to organize and even more forever for me to find a book that I'm looking for. It's definitely not an ideal way to do it. Lol!

    1. Colors and sizes! Oh my god that is so artsy sounding! I could see myself doing that, but then the series would likely get spread apart!
