This Weeks Question:
Have you ever read a book you thought you'd hate but loved? Or vice versa?
So I answered this question last week, and then realized it was the wrong one. Oops!
Some books that I've read that I have been disappointed by East by Edith Pattou, Dreaming Anastasia by Joy Preble, Prophecy of the Sisters by Michelle Zink, Dead Beautiful by Yvonne Woon, Rose Bride by Nancy Holder, and Winter's Child by Cameron Dokey. Oh, and Shiver.

OK, I guess that's a few. It's mostly because I'll expect them to be one thing, but they're something else. They're not what I expected, and not in a good way. And that makes me sad. Especially with Shiver. SOOOO many people love that book, except for me. I just couldn't get into it.
For any book that I thought that I would hate, but ended up loving, I'm not sure if that has happened. I try to start each book with a positive attitude, so it doesn't happen all too much. Maybe I'll think of an example or two later...
Have you ever read a book that you were disappointed by? Or vice versa?
I haven't read any of these books, but I'm quite interested in Shiver!

A lot of people have liked Shiver, except for me. Thanks for visiting!
DeleteI'm the same way! I won't read anything that I don't plan to enjoy so I don't have anything to add to the "thought you would hate" category. I haven't read any of the books you listed though! Old follower :)

Thanks for visiting!
DeleteI’ve heard so many mixed reviews about Shiver. I really wanted to read it at one point, but then I changed my mind. I don’t know if I’ll ever get around to reading it.
ReplyDeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
Quite a few people do really like it.
DeleteI haven't heard of any of these books, but I do know Cameron Dokey.

DeleteI do regret using the word "hate" because it is throwing some people off today! Whoops! I guess I meant like you wouldn't have picked this book up yourself because you were sooo sure it wasn't your kind of read. But then circumstances, and in my case peer pressure from my online friends across the world (one lived in the UK!), told me I had to read "this" book and I finally succumbed. Totally ready to place blame at their feet if I didn't like it like I thought I would. But I ended up loving it!
ReplyDeleteSo that's kinda what I was thinking when I said "hate.
But I do admit to be scared to read The Rose Bride! That's still in my TBR Mountain of Doom! I love fairytale retellings I really enjoyed a lot of this particular line, I read some of those when I was in middle school or high school--I'd have to check their original pub dates. I bought that one when Nancy and Debbie Viguie came to my city a few years ago. Might still try it, as I say of 97% of the books in that Mountain of Doom! LOL!
Here's my Follow Friday
Have a GREAT day!

Some of the books in the line are really good, others are OK. I still need to finish it.
DeleteEvery one is so different! Thanks for stopping by my blog, I'm an old follower. :)
ReplyDeleteNo problem, and thanks for visiting!
DeleteI haven't read any of those books, though there was one on your list I kind of wanted to read..now not sure. :)

Don't let my opinion deter you!
DeleteI've only had this happen one both ways. I thought I'd hate Human.4 but I loved it, and I thought I'd love the Vampire Academy Graphic Novel, but I absolutely hated it.
ReplyDeleteCheck out my FF!
I'm nervous about the graphic novel version.
DeleteI read Shiver when it first came out, and remember being really underwhelmed. Six years later and everyone loves it, so I bought it again (yesterday actually!) to try and give it another go.

It didn't really excite me much. I only liked Isabel and Cole.
DeleteI liked Shiver, but I was a major Cole and Isabel fan too. Thank you for stopping by. :)

Lots of people like it, and I hope you do too!
DeleteI haven't heard of any of the ones you've listed! Although, I think I might have actually heard of Shiver, but I don't think I would hurry to read it. Hope you're having a lovely weekend!
ReplyDeleteI hope you like it though!

I'll check yours out!
DeleteI haven't read any of these books. I should probably look into them! For me, I was disappointed by The Fault in Our Stars and Children of Men. I thought I'd love both books and didn't enjoy them at all.
