Calla has always welcomed war.
But now that the final battle is upon her, there's more at stake than fighting. There's saving Ren, even if it incurs Shay's wrath. There's keeping Ansel safe, even if he's been branded a traitor. There's proving herself as the pack's alpha, facing unnamable horrors, and ridding the world of the Keepers' magic once and for all. And then there's deciding what to do when the war ends. If Calla makes it out alive, that is. In this remarkable final installment of the Nightshade trilogy, international bestselling author Andrea Cremer crafts a dynamic novel with twists and turns that will keep you breathless until its final pages.

I'm just going to be honest and say that I didn't have super high hopes when starting this book. I didn't really like the first two, and this one I think was even worse.

This cover is weird, but then again I've felt that way about all of them. Might as well not change my opinion now! It says "Is true love worth the ultimate sacrifice?" Why does love always have to involve a sacrifice? For fuck's sake they're 18. I'm pretty sure there is no true love going on. More like true LUST.

I used to like Shay, now he's a fuckhole. He's just so controlling. He can't control Calla, but she lets him! What kind of relationship is that? Oh, I know, an ABUSIVE one! Like, come on. Really. I'm going to punch someone.

There's action, but it doesn't last long. As in the huge battle that the book leads up to. It's like half an hour. Maybe that long. MAYBE.

I feel like Ms. Cremer just killed people for the fun of it. There was really no reason for some of the deaths. They were really just there to TRY to keep the book moving. It was so annoying. At least give it a reason!

And the ending. The FUCKING ENDING!

That was the stupidest thing I've ever read. It was like she had no clue how to end the book. It was so random!! Super shitty ending. I expected a huge battle and I got a tiny cat fight.

I'm not sure if I can discuss this book much more without getting super pissed all over again. I thought about giving it 1 star, but I'm saving that only for a select few.

I really don't want to talk about the characters because I pretty much hated them all.

Overall, shitty ending to a OK trilogy. Will I read the spin offs? Likely. As I've said before, I make bad choices.

  1. I couldn't agree more about the ending, I loved the first two books but I hated the ending.. It was like reallyy why?? I actually gave Bloodrose one star. I read it years ago, but the ending still makes me sad. <3 Benish | Feminist Reflections
